Sarah Schwerdel, MA, LMHC, has been with Mass Bay Counseling since 2005. A licensed mental health counselor, Sarah earned her Master’s Degree in counseling psychology from Boston College in 2001. Prior to joining Mass Bay, Sarah worked as an individual and group therapist, program coordinator, and agency liaison in substance abuse and mental health clinics.
Sarah works with adults and couples, on issues that range from stress and adjustment disorders, relationship struggles, family concerns, substance abuse, and mood disorders (and anything in between!). Sarah’s approach to therapeutic work is eclectic and client centered; her first priority when meeting with a new patient is to establish a therapeutic relationship in which the patient feels safe and able to communicate. Sarah often uses humor in her work, and loves the process of getting to know each of her patient’s unique personalities and strengths. Sarah knows that finding a therapist that you can connect with can, at times, feel like an overwhelming process. It is her goal to support her clients during this process and work with them in creating and reaching goals, decreasing problematic symptoms, and living a more fulfilling life.
Outside of the office, Sarah enjoys spending time with her family and friends, spending time outdoors, traveling, and volunteering.
